Improvement direction

In some cases the target value for a design requirement is the optimum measurement for that requirement. In other cases it is an acceptable value, but a higher or lower value would be even better. You would not normally want to expend additional design effort to increase the weight of an aircraft component of the initial design came out below the target weight

This row on the chart is used to identify the improvement direction for the design requirement, especially if this is not immediately obvious.
