Design For Assembly (DFA)

Design for Assembly is a simple, structured analysis technique which gives design teams the information they need to reduce product costs by:-

DFA analysis is carried out on a graphical chart as shown below:

Select a topic below for a description of the various parts of the chart.

Complex products

The single DFA analysis chart works well for products with up to about 100 parts. With more than that, the chart can get unwieldy and difficult to navigate. To overcome this problem, TeamSET enables you to link multiple assemblies together.

The product structure is defined using the structure editor as shown below.

Assemblies are attached to the structure (shown in yellow in the editor window). These are analysed separately, and the overall results combined in a DFA summary chart.

Printing

The printout of the DFA chart is in Visio format. It contains summary information as well as the chart, and may be easily imported into other documents.

Manufacturing Analysis

The TeamSET Manufacturing Analysis (MA) module complements and fully integrates with TeamSET Design for Assembly. It examines the materials and processes used to manufacture individual components.
